We have long since known that our customers are the very best! It is because of them that we continue to be here in this little town, doing what we do. And so, we are very excited to share another customer spotlight today! We can’t wait for you to meet the Petersen Family! They are passionate about spending time together as a family, and it shows! If you are a parent or grandparent of busy teens, you will love the reason this family bought a trailer. Also, how about starting a tradition of keeping a camping journal of your family adventures? Great idea!

Why did you decide to invest in a trailer? Is it something you have always done or is it new to your family?
We had bought an older trailer at the same time we had our 3rd baby. It was such a luxury to be able to wash my babies at night, and to have somewhere to stay warm and dry. Living in Idaho, we have been snowed on more camping trips than not!
But, two years ago when we had baby #5, we just didn’t fit in the old camper. Well, that and the water didn’t work anymore, the heater was questionable, and the air conditioning was a thing of the past. It was a glorified tent on wheels.
Then enters the picture – teenager. Teenager with a phone. And friends. And the desire to be gone and doing every minute of the day. One night, on the way home from picking her up from one of her million activities, a song came on the radio that we had sung while four-wheeling the summer before. She turned it up and we sang along at the top of our lungs. When the song ended, she said, “that was the best four-wheeling trip ever!”
That was it. That was all I needed to say, “Yes! We are buying a camper!” I knew in that minute that it’s those fleeting memories that would will her home…That is what would bring them all home in the years to come. So, we labeled our summer The Summer To Unplug!
How is your trailer changed the way your family spends time together?
We decided that as often as possible, we would hook up the trailer and go. Our goal was to find new places, and places far enough away that there was no cell service. Thus, we were “unplugged” from society. We were forced to spend time together, just being together. It was awesome!
Where are your favorite places to take your trailer?
We love lakes, so finding secret little lakes is our quest!
Can you share a favorite family memory while using your trailer?
One weekend we couldn’t get away until 9 pm, but we still wanted to go. We got to our destination about 11:30 pm! We got everything settled, and it was 36 degrees outside – soooooo cold! But in the middle of the night my little family was able to crawl into our cozy, warm camper, COOK a dessert, have it with ice cream, start games, and hang out with each other until the wee hours of the morning!
How was your experience with C&R?
Our C&R experience was awesome! We have a journal that we keep in the camper. It’s something that we have had for 7 years, and each trip we record the highlights and even the low lights. Any of the kids or dad or mom can write in it. On the day we got our new camper, we took it straight to the mountains. Needless to say, every one of us included how awesome C&R was to deal with. The highlight of the trip was that “Shawn made sure and got us all a Fat Boy (ice cream sandwich)!”
We have not got our camping fill for the season yet, but Grandma and Grandpa just arrived to stay with us for a bit, so now they are soaking in the luxuries of this gorgeous home on wheels! That just means we will get some late fall trips in, and with any luck, maybe a snow camp!!!
Thank you so much Petersen Family for sharing your trailer experience with us! Doesn’t it make you want to head up into the mountains on a quest for a hidden lake? One of our favorite parts of this spotlight was the conclusion Emily made regarding creating family memories, “I knew in that minute that it’s those fleeting memories that will bring her home…That is what would bring them all home in the years to come.” With the over abundance of youth activities and social media, our families are all to often “plugged in”. We are finding it increasingly more difficult to create quality family time with so many things competing for our time and attention. We love the way this family is making sure they are unplugging from the distractions and creating family memories in a very deliberate (and obviously successful way!)
Here’s to making memories! Are you a happy customer of C&R and would like to share your experience? We are looking for more families to spotlight and would love to hear your story! As a thank you to the Petersens and all of our spotlight families, we will be giving a $50 gift card that can be used toward any parts or services at C&R.
